Hanuman Mantras

The Hanuman Beej Mantra is considered the "seed" sound of Lord Hanuman’s energy. It is a concise but potent vibration used to invoke his qualities of immense strength, protection, and unwavering devotion.

The most common and powerful Beej Mantra for Lord Hanuman is:
> || ॐ हं हनुमते नमः ||
> "Om Han Hanumate Namah"
 * Om: The universal primordial sound.
 * Han: The specific Beej (seed) syllable for Hanuman.
 * Hanumate: Referring to Lord Hanuman.
 * Namah: A salutation or "I bow to you."
Benefits of Hanuman Sadhana
Engaging in regular Hanuman Sadhana (disciplined practice) is believed to transform the practitioner's physical, mental, and spiritual state.
1. Removal of Fear and Anxiety
Hanuman is the "Sankat Mochan" (Reliever of Troubles). Reciting his mantra helps eliminate phobias, night terrors, and deep-seated anxieties. It instills a sense of "Abhaya" (fearlessness).
2. Physical Health and Vitality
As the son of the Wind God (Vayu) and an incarnation of Shiva, Hanuman represents life force (Prana). Sadhana is said to improve physical stamina, overcome lethargy, and assist in recovery from long-term illnesses.
3. Mental Clarity and Focus
Hanuman is described as Buddhimatam Varishtham (the most intelligent among the wise). His sadhana helps students and professionals sharpen their intellect, improve concentration, and make firm decisions under pressure.
4. Protection from Negative Energies
The vibration of the Beej Mantra acts as a psychic shield. It is traditionally used to ward off "Bhoota-Preta" (negative entities), evil eye, and the malefic effects of planetary positions, particularly Shani (Saturn).
5. Cultivation of Discipline and Devotion
Perhaps the greatest benefit is the shift in character. Sadhana fosters Bhakti (devotion) and the strength to control one's senses, helping the practitioner lead a more disciplined and virtuous life.
How to Practice
 * Time: Early morning (Brahma Muhurta) or during twilight (Sandhya Kaal) is ideal. Tuesdays and Saturdays are considered especially auspicious.
 * Direction: Face East or North.
 * Mala: Use a Rudraksha mala for chanting.
 * Purity: Practitioners usually maintain physical cleanliness and a vegetarian diet during the period of intense sadhana.
Hanuman Sadhana is known for its simplicity but requires strict mental and physical discipline.
1. Preparation
Ideal Timing: Early morning (Brahma Muhurta, 4:00 AM – 6:00 AM) or late evening (8:00 PM – Midnight).
Days: Start on a Tuesday or Saturday, or an auspicious day like Hanuman Jayanti.
Direction: Face East (for spiritual growth) or North (for worldly success).
Altar Setup: Place a picture or idol of Lord Hanuman on a wooden platform (Bajot) covered with a red cloth. Light a lamp (diya) using mustard oil or jasmine (Chameli) oil.
2. The Step-by-Step Ritual
Purification: Take a bath and wear clean, preferably red or saffron-colored, clothes.
Sankalpa (Vow): Take some water in your right palm and state your name, purpose, and the number of days (21 or 41 days) you intend to perform the sadhana.
Guru & Ganesh Vandana: Mentally bow to your Guru and Lord Ganesha to remove any obstacles in your prayer.
Rama Smaran: Hanuman is the ultimate devotee of Lord Rama. Always chant "Jai Shri Ram" a few times before starting Hanuman's mantra; this is said to please him instantly.
Dhyana (Meditation): Recite the Manojavam Marutatulyavegam shloka to focus your mind on his form.
Mantra Japa: Use a Rudraksha mala to chant your chosen Beej Mantra. A standard practice is 1, 5, or 11 rounds (108 beads each).
Conclusion: Perform a small aarti or simply offer a prayer for forgiveness for any mistakes made during the ritual.
Essential Rules (Niyam)
Celibacy (Brahmacharya): Total physical and mental celibacy is strictly required during the sadhana period.
Diet: Follow a strict Sattvic diet (no onion, garlic, meat, or alcohol).
Asana: Use a seat made of wool or a simple rug; do not sit directly on the floor.
Consistency: Perform the japa at the same time and place every day.
1. Hanuman Raksha Mantra
This is a comprehensive protection mantra often used to safeguard oneself from all directions.
|| ॐ हं हनुमते रुद्रात्मकाय हुं फट् ||
Om Hum Hanumate Rudratmakaya Hum Phat
Significance: Invokes the "Rudra" (fierce) form of Hanuman. The sounds "Hum" and "Phat" are Astra (weapon) sounds used to cut through negativity and provide immediate relief from fear.
2. The Panchmukhi Hanuman Stotra (Short Form)
The five-faced form of Hanuman protects against five different directions and types of evils.
|| ॐ नमो भगवते पंचवदनाय पूर्वकपिमुखाय सकलशत्रुसंहारकाय स्वाहा ||
Om Namo Bhagavate Panchavadanaaya Poorva-kapimukhaaya Sakala-shatru-samhaara-kaaya Swaaha
Significance: This specific verse focuses on the Eastern face (Kapi/Monkey) which destroys enemies and provides protection from visible and invisible foes.
3. Mantra for Protection from Black Magic and Evil Eye
If you feel a heavy or oppressive energy in your environment, this mantra is traditionally recommended:
|| ॐ नमो भगवते हनुमते नमः | ॐ हं पवननन्दनाय स्वाहा ||
Om Namo Bhagavate Hanumate Namah | Om Hum Pavananandanaya Swaha
Significance: It calls upon Hanuman as the son of the Wind God (Pavananandana) to "blow away" stagnant or harmful energies.
4. Hanuman Mantra for Traveling Protection
To be recited before leaving home or during a journey to prevent accidents and mishaps:
|| अंजनिगर्भ संभूत कपीन्द्र सचिवोत्तम | रामप्रिय नमस्तुभ्यं रक्ष मां सर्वदा ||
Anjani-Garbha Sambhoota Kapeendra Sachivottama | Rama-Priya Namastubhyam Raksha Maam Sarvada
Meaning: "O son of Anjani, the great monkey chief and beloved of Rama, I bow to you. Protect me always."
How to Use These for Protection
The Water Energizing Method: Take a copper glass of water. Chant the protection mantra (whichever you choose) 108 times while focusing on the water. Drink the water to "infuse" the protection within.
Siddha Dhuni (Incense): Light Guggul or Lobhan incense while chanting. Waft the smoke throughout your home to clear the space of "Nazar" (evil eye).
Emergency Protection: In moments of sudden fear or danger, mentally repeat the seed mantra "Hanu" or "Hum" rapidly.
Traditional "Kavach" Practice
If you require long-term protection, you might consider the Hanuman Kavacham. It is a longer scriptural text where every limb of the body is offered for protection to a different name of Hanuman.
