Types of Jinn
In Islam, jinn are supernatural beings created by Allah from smokeless fire, as mentioned in the Quran (Surah Al-Hijr 15:27). They possess free will, like humans, and are divided into believers and disbelievers.
## Quranic and Hadith Classifications
Authentic Islamic sources, particularly a hadith narrated by Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani, describe three main types of jinn :
- Those with wings that fly through the air, resembling fast winds.
- Those resembling snakes, dogs, scorpions, or insects, which take animal forms.
- Those that stop to rest and then resume traveling, accountable like humans.
Jinn also fall into moral categories: Muslims (believers), kuffar (disbelievers), guided, and misguided .
