40-day dhikr and ruqyah routine
Here is a focused 40-day dhikr and ruqyah routine designed for chronic or long-standing illness, using Qur’an, authentic prophetic duas, and Names of Allah. It follows a simple morning–afternoon–evening–night structure so you can stay consistent (istiqāmah) for 40 days.
## Core principles
- Combine this routine with proper medical treatment; in Islam, seeking cure is part of tawakkul.
- Keep wuḍū’ as much as possible, sit facing the qiblah, and recite with presence of heart.
- Use a simple counter (tasbīḥ app or beads) to track counts each day.

## Daily 40-day routine
### 1. After Fajr (morning session)
**A. Sūrah al-Fātiḥah over water – 7 times**
- Recite Sūrah al-Fātiḥah seven times while focusing on healing, blow gently on a glass of clean water, then drink it slowly.
- Intention: “O Allah, make this a means of shifā’ for my body and heart.”
**B. Healing dua of the Prophet (ﷺ) – 40 times**
Transliteration:
Allāhumma Rabban-nās, adh-hibil-ba’s, ishfi wa antash-Shāfī, lā shifā’a illā shifā’uka, shifā’an lā yughādiru saqamā.
Meaning:
“O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the hardship, heal me, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing—a healing that leaves no illness behind.”
- Recite this 40 times after Fajr daily for 40 days.
**C. Names of Allah for healing – 100 times total**
Rotate or combine:
- “Yā Shāfī” (O Healer) – 33 times
- “Yā Raḥmān, Yā Raḥīm” – 33 times
- “Yā Allāh, Yā Rabb” – 34 times
This aligns with the advice to meditate on Asmā’ al-Ḥusnā for healing.

### 2. Before or after Zuhr (midday session)
**A. Āyat al-Kursī – 7 times**
- Recite Āyat al-Kursī (2:255) seven times with the intention of protection and strength for your body and heart.
**B. Dua for pain and chronic suffering – 7 times**
Arabic:
بِسْمِ اللهِ (3 مرات)
أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ (7 مرات)
Transliteration:
Bismillāh (3 times)
A‘ūdhu bi‘izzatillāhi wa qudratihī min sharri mā ajidu wa uḥādhir (7 times).
Meaning:
“I seek refuge in the might and power of Allah from the evil of what I feel and what I fear.”
- Place your right hand on the area most affected by the chronic illness and recite as above.
***
### 3. After ‘Asr or before Maghrib (optional short session)
If you have energy, add:
**A. Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ, al-Falaq, an-Nās – 3 times each**
- Recite these three surahs three times each, blow into your hands, and wipe over your body, especially the painful areas.
**B. Short dua for chronic illness – 21 times**
Arabic:
أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ أَنْ يَشْفِيَنِي
Transliteration:
As’alullāhal-‘Aẓīm, Rabbal-‘arshil-‘aẓīm, an yashfiyanī.
Meaning:
“I ask Allah, the Most Great, Lord of the Mighty Throne, to heal me.”
- This dua is specifically recommended for healing from sickness.
***
### 4. After ‘Ishā (night session)
**A. Evening adhkar (protective and healing remembrances)**
- Recite the standard evening adhkar (e.g., from *Hisn al-Muslim* or a trusted adhkar book/app). These include protections that support healing.
**B. Three Quls before sleep – 3 times each**
- Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ, al-Falaq, an-Nās: three times each.
- Blow into your hands and pass them over your body as much as possible.
**C. Sleep-position dua for the sick – 7 times**
Before sleeping, place your right hand on the painful area and recite seven times:
أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ
(As above; this reinforces healing during sleep.)

## Weekly enhancements (within the 40 days)
- **3 times a week:** Recite Sūrah Yāsīn near you (or listen with full attention) and make sincere dua for healing at the end.
- **Once a week:** If possible, have a trusted person recite a short ruqyah session over you using al-Fātiḥah, Āyat al-Kursī, and the Three Quls.
***
## How to track the 40 days
- Use a simple checklist: mark each day you complete all four sessions (Fajr, Zuhr, ‘Asr optional, ‘Ishā).
- If you miss a session, do not break the chain; just continue the next day and try to make up the missed dhikr when you can.
- The emphasis is on steadiness (istiqāmah), not perfection.
***
## Intention and adab
- Begin each day with: “O Allah, I am doing this dhikr seeking Your shifā’ and Your pleasure; accept it from me.”
- Avoid sins that harden the heart (lying, backbiting, haram earnings), as purity of income and conduct affects acceptance of dua.
- Keep giving small ṣadaqah (even daily) with the intention of healing; charity is a known means of repelling affliction.
